Built for the job, not for the showroom
Agricultural gates get rammed, leaned on, dragged through mud, scraped by muck spreaders and reversed into in the dark. A driveway gate finish will not survive a month of it. We build agricultural gates from heavy-gauge tube, hot-dip galvanised after manufacture, with the joints, hinges and latches proportioned for the actual loads they get hit with.
For stock work that means stock-proof bar spacings, rounded edges where animals will rub, sheeted infills where you need a visual barrier, and latches that a cold wet hand can still operate. For field entrances it means lift-off hinges that will not seize, and posts that are actually deep enough to stay plumb in winter ground.
Entrance gates for farms and estates
The entrance gate does two jobs: it controls access to the farm, and it is the first thing everyone sees. We build entrance gates to match the rest of the setting, whether that is a working yard where a six-metre sliding gate makes more sense than a pair of swing gates, or a traditional estate entrance where the gates need to sit correctly next to stonework and existing railings.
Timber cladding on a steel frame is a popular option for estate entrances, hardwood that survives outdoors, bolted to a galvanised frame so the structural work never relies on the timber. Steel-only gates in black or dark green finish suit most working farms, simple, heavy, and quick to clean with a pressure washer.

Automation where it actually makes sense
For most field gates, automation is overkill. Lift-off hinges and a solid latch is the right answer. But for farm entrances, yards with frequent deliveries, and anywhere staff are opening the gate from inside a vehicle ten times a day, automation is worth every penny.
We install automation spec'd for rural conditions. Sealed motor housings, overspec'd control boards, and where mains power is a headache or a trench dig too far, solar and battery-backed systems that run off a panel on a nearby post. Access control options include long-range fobs, keypad entry, and GSM intercoms that work on a 4G signal without needing a wired phone line.

We manufacture our steel gates in our own workshop and source our hardwood and aluminium from trusted makers. Either way, the install crew is the same team that managed your gate from the start. No handing the job over to a fitter who has never seen the drawings. That matters on agricultural sites, where the ground is awkward, the power is distant, and the original plan sometimes has to change on site once the post holes are open.
We cover farms and estates across the UK. Distance is not usually a barrier, and for larger projects we co-ordinate install weeks so your team knows exactly when the gates are going in and can plan stock movements and deliveries around it.
